New Year, New Workout Plan (With a Little Help from My Friend, ChatGPT)
It’s that time of year again—the time when New Year’s resolutions start getting a little... wobbly. You know, when your ambitious plan to “get fit” is already being replaced by “just one more episode” on Netflix. But this year, things are going to be different. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. And who better to help me stick to it than my trusty sidekick, ChatGPT?
I decided to get creative with my workout routine and, after a few too many days of staring at my gym equipment, I realized something—I needed a plan that didn’t feel like work. So, I enlisted ChatGPT to help me create workout flashcards.
Here’s how I did it:
Set My Goals: First, I told ChatGPT how much weight I wanted to lose, what kind of equipment I had (links below to see what I use) and how much time I had each week to work out. ChatGPT took all of this info and magically whipped up a plan that was realistic, varied, and—dare I say—fun.
Flashcard Frenzy: ChatGPT broke my plan down into 60 different workouts, that I put on its own flashcard. I asked for a variety of moves so that I wouldn’t get bored, and it gave me a perfect mix of exercises targeting different muscle groups.
Formatting Time: Once I had all the workout details from ChatGPT, I copied it into Word and dressed it up a bit.
Cut, Laminate, Repeat: I printed out my flashcards, cut them out (thank goodness for paper cutters), and laminated them. Let's be honest, laminated flashcards are just satisfying to handle. And if you really want to get fancy, flip them over and use the back to track other stuff like your daily water intake, protein goals, or even meditation. Talk about multitasking!
Workout Success: Now, instead of staring blankly at my home gym setup, I grab a flashcard and get to work. No more decision fatigue. I don’t have to think about what workout to do next—I just pick a card, follow the instructions, and get moving.
Honestly, sometimes you just need something physical to feel accomplished. Virtual checklists are fine, but there’s something about holding a completed task in your hands. That’s why I love these flashcards—each card I finish is a tangible reminder of my progress. It’s not just a workout; it’s proof that I’m getting things done, one laminated card at a time. Trust me, it feels way more real when you can see it!
So here’s your sign to go make your own flashcards. No, seriously. Stop reading this and go do it! Your future self will thank you when you’re crushing your goals.
Remember, if I can do it—so can you! Happy New Year, and here’s to actually sticking to our resolutions this time! 💪
